It has been estimated that approximately 1.4 million Americans are affected by inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) , especially Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. These are chronic diseases with no known cure that can be debilitating to live with and at times life threatening. North America is considered a high incidence area for IBD. In this show, Dr. Sonenshine will provide basic information on these diseases as well as provide information on symptoms, diagnosis, management, what’s new in treatments, and available support for these patients.

His special interests include inflammatory bowel disease, prevention of gastrointestinal malignancy through cost-effective screening, and management of chronic liver disease.

Being double board certified in Surgery and Plastic Surgery, Dr. Connors obtained his MD from Georgetown Medical School, conducted his Residency in General Surgery at Dartmouth and received a Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Harvard Medical School.  He is the only surgeon in Georgia to offer Precision Vision 4D Patient Imaging, thereby revolutionizing consultations.  Having been featured on CBS, 11 Alive, and Fox News, Dr. Connors is a regular lecturer at surgical society meetings across the US. He is Founder of Emergence Surgical Gifts, Inc, a non-profit offering free reconstructive surgery to children.

Interventional radiology (abbreviated IR or VIR for Vascular and Interventional Radiology, also referred to as Surgical Radiology) is a medical sub-specialty of radiology which utilizes minimally-invasive image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ system. The concept behind interventional radiology is to diagnose and treat patients using the least invasive techniques currently available in order to minimize risk to the patient and improve health outcomes.

 

Sepehr Panah M.D./Quantum Radiology

Recruited from Emory University, Dr. Panah was an Assistant Professor of Radiology for six years. During his time at Emory, he was the Chief of Interventional Radiology at Grady Memorial Hospital and helped rebuild the program from the ground up. During his time at Grady Hospital, he increased the volume three-fold and was instrumental in the acquisition of state of the art equipment and modernization of the IR suites. He introduced and/or revised service lines including Endovascular stent grafts, Uterine Fibroid Embolization and Cancer Therapy. His expertise in trauma has proved valuable for Quantum Radiology as the WellStar Health System has transitioned to a trauma center. He represents Quantum Radiology as a representative on the trauma committee. He is proficient in all aspects of IR, with special interest in Vertebral Augmentation, Trauma, Cancer Therapy including Chemoembolization and Ablation, AV Malformation treatment and Uterine Fibroid Embolization.
