With obesity affecting more and more people, this show looks to discuss the in’s and out’s of bariatric surgery and features Dr. Titus Duncan of Peachtree Surgical and Bariatrics … all brought to you by HealthGate.  Guest host today is Deloris Hartley.

Morbid obesity is the second leading cause of preventable death in the United States. For severely obese patients who have not had success with medically supervised weight loss plans, bariatric surgery can be a lifesaving and life changing treatment . Bariatric procedures have risen from about 16,000 in the 1990’s to now over 200,000 procedures being performed each year in the US. This segment will focus on the “internal changes and external” aspects of this type of surgical treatment.

Phone: 706-338-7725. I spoke to Margie last week. She told me that my request for operative notes from Dr. Sergio Mejias in Athens, GA several weeks ago had not been fulfilled. I am very concerned that your office did not tell me this before now. Will I now have to wait several more weeks until Dr. Duncan will read my notes? I called Dr. Mejias’ office and once again requested that these records be sent to you. They said they were sending them as we spoke right then to your fax number. I also asked Margie to let me know if your office received them. She said your office was having phone problems. As of today, I do not know if you have received these records.. I am serious about having my lap-band converted to bariatric by-pass, so will you please assist me in getting these records sent to you and also letting me know when you receive them? After you get them, please schedule me for the soonest possible appt. with Dr. Duncan for initial consultation. Thanks very much, and Merry Christmas to all of you.
